Exciting Features of Windows 10
So the
Next Big Thing is
Windows 10.Can i say so ? Or i just overrated it ? Obviously Not !
Microsoft recently released Technical Preview of
Windows 10 - the best Windows yet made.
Since its a half boiled egg with a need of some more time to get cooked, you might experience App crashes, bugs. But for those who have an overwhelming desire to upgrade from Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7and Windows Vista can now install this preview version of this Windows without much hesitation. We know all are curious to know about the Features of the Windows 10 and to know whether is it worth upgrading.
If you haven't installed it yet, make sure you read this Article Install and Use Windows 10
Let's straight dive into the
Hidden and Most Exciting Features of Windows 10.
Start Menu
The Most criticized thing about the Windows 8/8.1 is the absence
Start Menu by default. You are lucky if you are sticking with the
Windows 7. I say so because Microsoft have gave back that useful feature
in the Windows 10.The notable thing is that the Start Menu can be
resized as your wish. And the Start menu contains Live Tiles which can
also be resized as we do in Windows 8/8.1.
New Command Prompt
The Windows 10 came up with a new polished version of the Command Prompt
which is having some new features which its previous versions doesn't
have. It is updated to support basic text selections, copy, cut and
paste. However its not yet over. There is a lot more features in it
which can be accessed by Right-Clicking the Command Prompt window. These
are all useful for an advanced user( may not for a casual user ! ) .
Virtual Desktop
Microsoft officially called it "Task View".
It is a feature that you may have already seen in Linux and Mac
operating systems, But now it is on Windows also .This feature can be
accessed by the Task view icon just
near Start menu.
They also introduced a shortcut to access this feature which is Windows
key + Tab. This shortcut will bring up the Expose-like interface where
you can create and/or switch between multiple desktops.
Cortana Feature is (likely to be) coming !
Cortana is a voice assistance program which likely to do many
tasks according to the voice commands.Unfortunately this feature is not
available in the Tech Preview Version.
There is a great chance of
including this in the coming full fledged Windows 10.Anyway it would be
it would be nice for those who wants to interact with their computer
just by using voice commands.
Modern Apps now floats
In Windows 8/8.1 Microsoft introduced Modern apps which has some cool
features by its own. Still some may feel some kind of annoyance when it
only run in full screen mode. Somewhat that problem has now been solved.
In Windows 10 you can run Modern apps right in your Desktop without
going full screen.
Notifications Revamped!
Microsoft gave a notable importance to the notifications.Earlier notifications in Windows are sticking on the bottom right corner of the screen in the form of speech bubbles. In Windows 10 we can see the Notifications/Toasts coming at the top right corner of the screen in the form of Rectangular boxes with icons of the respective notifications.
Recycle Bin can be pinned
Now in Windows 10 we can pin the Recycle Bin like any other app.Though you cannot just drag the recycle bin to the Task bar to pin it but can do so by going to Favorite folder and Right click on the Recycle bin icon. From there you can pin it to either Start menu or Task bar.
Home Folder
The developers has added some notable graphical changes in the Windows 10.The New Home icon is one of them.Yeah they have added a Home directory which will show the items you selected as Favorite and the recently used folders. This will acts as the default launch page when you open new window.
These features can be accessed and tested by Installing Windows Technical Preview Version.
I repeat this is a Preview Version, not a Final Product. Microsoft may remove the features in this Preview version from the Final Windows 10. But for Geeks, Pros and Advanced users, this is a great opportunity to test the New Operating System and Be proud of being a part of the Best Windows made yet !
